About us

Our Founder: Shri S.D. Nirula

Nirula Handicrafts Bazar Pvt. Ltd. (NHB) was founded in 1990, blossoming under the visionary leadership of our chairman, Shri S.D. Nirula. Born on December 15, 1941, in the quaint town of Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North West Frontier Province, Shri Nirula’s journey began in a prominent family that relocated to Delhi post- partition in 1947.

Despite the financial hardships faced during his early life in Delhi, Shri Nirula’s resilience led him from selling dairy products to pioneering his first venture, “Embassy Brass House,” in the prestigious Jor Bagh Market. His initial success was bolstered by the support of the US embassy staff, who were charmed by his dedication and frequently recommended his shop to visitors.

Alongside his wife, Urmil Nirula, who balanced supporting the business with managing their home, Shri Nirula expanded his vision, establishing Nirula Handicrafts Bazar near the bustling Connaught Place. This emporium soon became a revered showcase for the rich tapestry of Indian arts and crafts, capturing the finesse and intricacies unique to Indian craftsmanship.

With over six decades of experience, Shri S.D. Nirula has passionately catered to a diverse global clientele, ranging from heads of state and diplomats to celebrities and international tourists. His commitment has not only championed the preservation of artisanal legacies but has also made the shopping experience both enjoyable and memorable.

Under his guidance, Nirula Handicrafts Bazar is dedicated to customer satisfaction, ensuring a ‘guarantee of satisfaction’ within a welcoming ambiance. This commitment has garnered immense appreciation and numerous accolades from various national departments and offices, celebrating his enduring legacy and the vibrant cultural heritage of India.
